A Titan of ancient Greek mythology. He was the child of Gaia and Uranus. Uranus had disposed of his children by forcing them to stay in Tartarus (the womb of Gaia). Chronos started a rebellion against this injustice and Gaia used a sickle to castrate Uranus. From his blood came the Furies, Hecatoncheires and Aphrodite. Then Chronus released his Titan siblings. Before Uranus died he prophesised that one of his children would overthrow Chronus. This child was Zeus.
