The Cretan Bull was created by Poseidon and sent to Minos as a gift that he hoped Minos would send back by way of sacrifice. Minos decided to keep this beautiful white bull to help her his cattle. Poseidon was angered and so he cursed Minos and his family. Minos’ wife Pasphae fell in love with the Cretan Bull and mated with it resulting in the Minotaur. Once the Cretan Bull gave birth to this new beast it ran around in a crazed manner. Hercules then captured this bull in his seventh task, and subdued it. When it grew old the bull was released onto the plains of Marathon.
