An enormous spider monster that hid its heart in the ground rendering the beasts invincible. This was a similar custom to Giants and fairies of Native American myth. The hero Otheigwendha encountered this creature in the forest and tried to kill it with a branch that it ripped off from a tree. He ran towards the creature but missed his thrust and the weapon struck deep into the ground. Otheigwendha thought that he would soon killed unable to get the stick from under the gorund. However the Djieien cried in agony and the hero realised that his sharp stick had struck the place where the Djieien’s heart was buried. Finally the creature died once and for all.
