Also known as Euryale
- Mythical Number: #1053
- Culture: Greek
- Attribute: Reptilian
- Attribute: Humanoid
- Behaviour: Deadly
One of the Gorgons of ancient Greek myth. Her sisters were Medusa and Atheno. They have snake like bodies with a reptilian humanoid upper half, sharp teeth and snake like hair. They also had brass arms and could turn anyone to stone who caught their stare. They were once beautiful women who having disobeyed the gods, became horrible creatures. The hero Perseus successfully killed Medusa by using a polished shield to see her reflection and then decapitated her. He then used the Medusa head to kill other beasts such as Cetus. The myth of the gorgon may derive from the Lamastu of Mesopotamia. Many Gorgon images are seen in ancient Greek carvings and on the shields of warriors.
