A Dwarf from Norse myth. He is paired with the Dwarf Fjalr. Both Galr and Fjalr then used a special bowl called Son to capture the blood of Kvasir. They took this back to their cave and transformed the blood into a magical mead. All who drunk from this mead gained the gift of eloquence. The two Dwarves distributed this potion out to others and soon they became famous across the land. They decided to hold a feast and invite the great Norse Frost Giant Gilling to the event. The Dwarves cunningly murdered Gilling and his wife at the feast. Suttung, the nephew of Gilling became very suspicious. When he became convinced of the Dwarve’s evil doing, he stole their potion from which then on became Suttung’s mead.

Giants, Dragons, Wizards, Dwarves and Elves, the basis of many fantasy worlds; Norse mythical creatures have been a great source of inspiration. Computer game giants Elder Scrolls and World of Warcraft have extensively used such Dragons, Elves and Wizards to fill their fantasy worlds. The film Thor (2011) gets to the root of Norse myth with fighting gods and Frost Giants in them. This is also true for the brilliant computer game Age of Mythology where lesser known monsters are brought to life.
