This is a Taniwha or guardian fairy from the beliefs of the indigenous people of New Zealand. He caught the Taniwha whale, Ureia. Ureia tried to escape the trap created by Haumia. He put up a great fight but after four huge waves he became weak and died. The death of Ureia upset another tribe of Maori who declared war on Haumia and his people.
