Hidimba is one of the Asuras of Hindu mythology. He lived in a deep cave scattered with the bones of his victims in the forest. He had a sister who was extremely beautiful who seduced travellers, offering them a meal in her cave. The unwary traveller would wander in the cave of Hidimba and would become the meal themselves.

One day a handsome warrior and pandava called Bhima was promised a meal by the cannibal’s sister. Bhima enticed the sister who, being so attracted to him, told the warrior of the real danger that lay ahead. Bhima then entered cautiously and killed Hidimba. Later the hero married Hidimba’s sister.
