Ancient Roman spirits of the dead. They are one of the types of Lares and live in the wild on paths and roads. They take the form of young people engaged in dancing and celebration. They hold horn cups in one hand and a bowl in the other. It was customary to make an offering to them. They are also believed to be guardians that help others. They were believed in by people who worshipped Lar, the god of the house hold. Other types of Lares include: Lare Domestici, Lare Permarini, Lare Rurales, Lare Compitales, and Lare Praestitis.
