It has the body and head of a lion and the hind legs, tail and wings of a bird. It is largely featured in Mesopotamian art. Statues of the Lion Griffin can be found in the temples dedicated to the god of war Ninurta. The god Ishkur rides a beast that is very similar to the Lion Dragon known as the Umu Na-Iru a name which means &squo;Roaring Weather Beast’
