A woodland spirit from Estonia. It looked after the animals on farms. It was tradition to create an effigy of the Metsik out of grain or straw every year. The gender of Metsik would alternate every year. The male would where a hat and a waistcoat while the female would wear a petticoat. This effigy was then put on top of a tall tree on the farm. The spirit would enter into the effigy and keep watch over the animals. They also warned the locals of impending danger. It is custom to make offerings and prayers to the Metsik.

But for those who love Vampires, lets not forget that Eastern Europe is their birth place. No film quite gives the Vampire spooks like Nosferatu (1922).
