From the beliefs of the Finno-Ugric regions of Eastern Europe, the Nakki were water spirits. They would emerge from the water twice a day, once at dawn and once at dusk. Some say that the Naaki are the souls of the dead drowned at sea. It was customary to throw coins in the lake as an offering to them.
