One of the 12 Dionysian Centaurs. His name means ‘Faunus’ (also the name of a Latin god). They were ordered by Zeus to guard the god Dionysus from the enraged goddess Hera and her monsters. They were originally sprites but Hera transformed them into Centaurs. They drew the chariot of Dionysus. The other 11 were Amphithemis, Aisakos, Orthaon, Petraios, Phanes, Keteus, Gleneus, Eurybios, Spargeus, Nomeion and Rhiphonos.
