A bird from Russian myth that is half man and half bird. He lived near the River Smorodinka. He patrolled a road that lead form Kiev to Chringov. For 30 years he controlled this road, eating anyone that passed him. Sometimes when people approached he would let out a whistling sound and swoop down and steal from the people. Eventually he was killed by the great Russian hero Iya Muromets. He was shot down with an arrow to the eye and was taken to Vladmir to the Prince that requested Nightingale top be captured. The Prince of Valdmir wanted to hear Nightingale whistle but the creature stated that he was too wounded to whistle. If stated that if food and wine was given to him he would whistle. He was given food and wine and when he regained his strength, he whistled. This whistle was so loud and devastating that the whole palace collapsed and many lay dead.
