A black tiger-like creature sighted by the European travellers of the 16th century. It had the features of a tiger with black fir and no tail. Its head was that of a human with frizzled hair. It had human like hands with thte feet of a tiger. The Thanacth was described in the book Cosmography and in Ambrose Pare’s (1517 – 1590) On Monsters and Marvels. Some saw this creature in India while others report it living in the Middle East. Some Indians caught this beast and took it to the Red Sea where it was documented by Andre Thevet.
