A spirit from the myths of the indigenous people of New Zealand. They lived in the sky can were special creatures that could only be seen by high level Shamans and those who had second sight. Some believe that they were a type of Wairua, the souls of the dead. They say that they used to inhabit the land but moved to live in the sky above. They can cause harm to others and Shamans are called upon to protect people from their injury.
