A Dwarf that is an emanation of Vishnu who overcame King Bali. King Bali had conquered the three worlds of existence. He ordered that no more sacrifices be made to the gods. The gods worried about this asked Vishnu to reclaim the land. Vishnu emanated as the Dwarf Vamana. He then went to the king and made a request that he should be given as much land as he could cover in three steps. The king agreed but was then shocked when the Dwarf to one giant leap and covered the whole of the first world. He then covered the upper world in his next step and on his final step he covered the lower world and trampled on Vamana’s head pushing him down to the lower world. Vishnu then made the former king the ruler of the underworld.
