Fairies and Nymphs
Tree fairies of the kauri and kabea trees of the Vuniwaivutuka near the Navua River on the Fiji Island. They wear tapa cloths (fabric made from papyrus) and they have pigtails of woolly hair. They love to eat fruit and drink an alcoholic beverage known as yaqona which is a beer made from pepper. They are usually friendly towards people unless they chop at the trees they live on. If people do this the Veli will leap on them and beat them. They preserve the forests and trees and the males have many wives whom do most of their work. The Veli love to steal iron tools.
