At the age of 15 he gathered and army that was 7,000 strong. This took him three years. They heard the king of India was to advance to Russia and defeat them. Volkh Vseselavevich then set off on a journey to launch an attack on the King first. Every night he would change into a wolf or falcon to bring back meat for his army to eat. When they got to India, Volkh Vseselavevich transformed into a bull and he roamed the land to survey it for battle. He then arrived at the palace of the king and transformed into a flacon. He perched on the window sill of the king’s room and overheard the queen tell her husband that Volkh Vseselavevich and his army was approaching. Knowing that the king knew of his advances, Volkh Vseselavevich transformed into a stoat and destroyed the weapons in the king’s armoury. When the army advanced they saw that the king was hiding behind his walls of which no army could penetrate. Volkh Vseselavevich transformed his army into ants who went through the tiny cracks in the wall. Once through the wall they turned back into men who killed everyone inside save 7,000 maidens who became wives to the 7,000 warriors.
