A shape-shifting creature from Bosnia and Serbia. His name means ‘Fiery Dragon Wolf’ because he was fathered by a fiery Dragon and since birth, had the ability to breathe blue fire. He had the ability to turn into a a creature that had the paws of a wolf and the wings of a Dragon at will when the sun was not shinning.
Zmaj Ognjeni Vuk was born in the 15th century and at birth he had a mark on his body in the shape of a sabre that predicted that he would grow up to become a shape-shifting creature. His body also had wolf fur. When he did grow up her was able to overcome the fiery Dragon where others had failed.
Some say that this is merely and elaboration of the life and character of a great Serbian knight called Vuk Grgurevic Brankovic (1440 - 1485). He was of noble blood who was famous for his outstanding courage and chivalry and for leading the Black Army - the Hungarians to fight against the Ottoman empire.
